The Renovation of Our Polish Church

In 2012, as a parish community, we undertook the monumental work of overhauling our Polish Church while changing the arrangement of the chancel.  The architect for this project was Andrew Ryczek of New Jersey, who also designed the Church of Mary, Star of the New Evangelization and Bl. Pope John Paul II in Torun. The beginnings of the renovation of our Marian temple are in line with the "John Paul II Generation" launched in June 2007 by Fr. Bogdan Molenda TChr, which resulted in the first collection of funds for the planned work.

But it was the determination, dedication, and commitment of our current parish priest, Fr. Raphael Dyguła TChr, that the renovations commenced in February 2012 lasted only half a year, so that the festivities on August 26, 2012 were already celebrated in the restored temple.  Currently, work is  being carried out to place the statue of Bl. Pope John Paul II in front of the main entrance to the church.  This statue is the work of sculptor Zbigniew Mikielewicz from Torun. The images in the church of St. Faustina and Blessed John Paul II, as well as the panorama of the Bright Mount in Czestochowa were painted by Eve Mika from Torun. Other elements of the sanctuary, such as the tabernacle, five reliquaries, candlesticks, the Papal cross, statues of angels, chandeliers, and other metalwork were created by artists from the Institute of Applied Arts of Stanislaw Stopyra from Rzeszow.  The Swedish granite Altar was made by Euro - Granite Richard Zamożniak of Torun.  The Spanish marble flooring was installed by the company PJD Marble & Granite Inc. of Piotr Biernat of Los Angeles, CA.  And, the wood components are the work of carpenters from the company Sphinx Peter M. Giby from San Diego, CA.  Renewal of the historical sedilia was undertaken by employees of Vienna Woods Inc. by Janusz Maszkiewicz from Los Angeles, CA.  Renovation of the stained glass was executed by the company Vision Art Glass Andrew Florczak from Toronto, Canada. Finally, maintaining the image of Our Lady, as well as gilding elements of the chancel was carried out by Mary H. Szopinski from Los Angeles, CA.

The images included in our photo gallery are a testament to the vastness of the work carried out in such a short time, working inside and outside the church.
